Time really flew by in 2017, in about two months, another Christmas and New Year are here! Sorry for being MIA for the past 2.5 months, my pregnancy is going well (we are having a girl in mid January next year) however I’m so exhausted every day. Life has treating me well (small up and downs) I’m grateful with what I have and hope that life gets better each day 🙂
I haven’t been buying new makeup for a few months and I have been trying my best to budget, shopping my stash and project panning. I sometimes get overwhelmed with how many makeup I have bought in the last few years and feel guilty for spending so much money. My love for makeup is still going strong however I learn to shop wisely (i.e not buying makeup just because it’s new on the market or because they look pretty or limited editions).
Now enough babbling, let’s get onto the items i have been loving in October.
1. Stila stay all day liquid eyeliner
I’m a liquid eyeliner fan, and have tried a fair few of them from both affordable and high end brands. When it comes to liquid eyeliner, I prefer it’s in a pen form with thin felt tip as it’s easy to use and control. I need it to be black (unless it’s brown eyeliner), matte, long lasting (do not move around, smudge or budge) and waterproof or resistant. So far, Stila stay all day liquid eyeliner has been fulfilling these needs and possesses all the good qualities I ask. If I have to pick one flaw, that is, it’s not 100 % water resistant. I tend to have watery eyes sometimes and it sort of washes my liner off a tiny bit (not by a great deal).
2. ELF stiplling brush
This is a true multitasker in my brush collection. I have found that it performs well with both cream and powder product, I can use it for foundation, powder, blush, bronzer and even highlighter so I often use it as my one stop go-to brush when I have no time to sit in front my vanity but have to apply makeup in the car when my husband is driving. This brush is really affordable and it’s soft and never sheds (even after washes).
3. Maybelline lash sensational mascara (waterproof)
I rarely use false lashes and now I don’t even use waterproof mascara often ever since I discovered covergirl mascara in the green tube. For everyday that mascara serves the purpose. However when I need something provides more curls and length, do not smudge or flake even when my eyes become watery, the maybelline Lash Sensational waterproof mascara is my go-to. It can become a bit clumpy so I recommend wife off excessive product beforhand as it is a wet formula. I find it performs better when it dries out a bit.
4. Benefit Cosmetics brow zings (dark, old packaging)
I bought this brow shaping kit long time ago, and I used to think it’s too warm for my naturally dark eyebrows. I never used to like the waxing part of any brow shaping kits as I find they are not effective, colour is too light, formula is too slippery and so on.
Because of my goal to shop my stash and to use up products before I can buy new makeup, I find I have been reaching for this kit more often and like it more and more each day. I usually mix the wax and the powder together and apply them onto my brows using a angled brow brush. I draw the lines first and then fill in with more powders. I then use the a spollie to brush off excessive powders off my brows and to make them look more natural. The wax holds my brows together well through the day unless I rub it intentionally. In addition I always set my brows with a brow gel.
5. Daniel Wellington 28mm Melrose watch (silver watch face)
I have been loving this new 28mm DW timepiece, it’s simple, classy and goes with any outfit because of its silver hardware. It runs well and tells time accurately. It has self adjustable strap and can be done by myself using the tool provided in the box.
